Have never read the book, though it's been recommended by a few people, so wasn't really sure what I was in for. Did expect the subject matter to be risque, even perverted... and so it was. But what I didn't expect was how funny the movie was.
Mason was great, as was Winters in a completely different way. Lyon was very pretty (I was sure she was the typical Hollywood twenty-something playing a teenager, but imdb proves me wrong), but her acting was amateurish at best.
Interesting use of transitions - some of the jumps in the story are very abrupt. It makes the movie go by faster than its two and a half hour running time.
